Hedgerow Presents 7th Annual Cooney Farce, There Goes The Bride For Immediate Release: June 25, 2008
Wedding bells are ringing, flowers are blooming, the bride is blushing and the father of the bride is ... well, delusional. Hedgerow Theatre's seventh annual Cooney summer farce, There Goes the Bride, written by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, finds executive Timothy Westerby, already coping with the chaos of his job and his daughter's wedding day, cracking under the pressure in an amusing manner. Throw in some angry Australian in-laws, some slightly senile grandparents, a tearful bride-to-be and you've got a wedding you will not want to miss! Penelope Reed directs the hilarity July 10-Aug. 31 For the past seven summers, Hedgerow has showcased the work of Britain's Ray Cooney, whose comedies have been translated into more than 40 languages and produced all over the world. “I just want to make people laugh! What I do is look for a story about ordinary people," says the playwright. Hedgerow Theatre’s acclaimed productions of Cooney plays have been: It Runs in the Family (2007); Out Of Order (2006), Move Over Mrs. Markham (2005), Funny Money (2004) Caught In the Net (2003) and Run For Your Wife (2002). However, the tradition of staging a summer farce is now in its ninth consecutive year! The Hedgerow cast includes audience favorites Zoran Kovcic and Susan Wefel (performing in their seventh annual Cooney), along with guest artist Sonja Robson, Hedgerow Theatre fellow Carlyn Miller and Hedgerow ensemble members Anthony Marsala, Jim Fryer and Dave Christoffersen. Tickets are $22 on Thursday, $28 on Friday and Sunday, and $30 on Saturday. Senior tickets are $20 for all performances and youth tickets for those under the age of 18 are $10 for all performances. There is also a day-ofshow $10 student rush ticket. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; 4 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Special performances include a meet-the-cast post show reception Thursday, July 17 and a pre-show tea Sunday, July 20. Two special matinees have been scheduled at 1 p.m. July 23 and Aug. 27 which include an intermission tea party. Hedgerow Theatre offers great group rates for groups of 15 or more.
