Bristol Riverside Theatre and the Kelch House to celebrate closing performance of Teddy Roosevelt show - Patrons invited to meet the man behind the glasses at dinner reception

For Immediate Release: March 5, 2007
Media Contact: Chuck Reece, Bristol Riverside Theatre, 215.785.0100

On Sunday, March 18th, Bristol Riverside Theatre, presents the final performance of The Bully Pulpit, written and performed by Michael O. Smith at 3:00 p.m at the theatre, 120 Radcliffe Street in Historic Bristol Borough. Following the play, BRT's neighbors at the Kelch House—located one block from the theatre on the corner of Mill and Radcliffe Streets—open their doors for a post-show reception and chance to meet Mr. Smith, who brings President Theodore Roosevelt to life in this one-man play.

The Bully Pulpit, set in Roosevelt’s Sagamore Hill, NY home, transpires in 1918, on the occasion of Roosevelt’s 60th birthday. He is ten years out of office as President, yet is as vibrant in spirit and exuberant in his story-telling as ever. But while reflecting upon the many adventures—and tragedies—in his life, “TR” is trying to come to grips with the legacy he will leave behind. War Hero or Conservationist? President or Father?

Dinner seating is limited to the first 50 patrons. Along with the performance, guests will enjoy a full-course meal starting off with a House Salad with Homemade Balsamic Dressing, with a choice of entrée: Herb Crusted Chicken over Potatoes Au Gratin with String Beans or Pan Seared Tilapia over Tomato Basil Risotto with Broccoli Spear. The meal is rounded out by a dessert of Cappuccino Mouse Cake. Beverages include a choice of Coffee, Tea, or Fountain Soda. The Kelch House is a 'bring-your-own' alcoholic beverage establishment.

Tickets for this special event are $50 per person and can be purchased in person at the BRT Box Office, or by calling 215-785-0100. The Bully Pulpit, written and performed by Michael O. Smith runs through March 18. More information about the play is available online at www.BRTstage.org. BRT thanks Verizon, Grand Sponsor of its 20th Anniversary Season.
