Former CNN World Affairs Correspondent Ralph Begleiter to Moderate DTC Forum; Second in a Series of Three Discussions

Delaware Theatre Company’s series of audience enrichment events, Connections: A Community Conversation, continues on Saturday, March 17, 2007 with “Marching Together: African-American and Jewish-American Relations in Civil Rights Era Delaware.” This event is presented in conjunction with the theatre’s production of Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry. This hometown panel discussion will explore how African-American and Jewish-American leaders interacted during the fight for civil rights in Delaware. The Connections forum will follow the 2:00 p.m. matinee at approximately 4:00 p.m. and run about 90 minutes. The event is free and open to the public and is partly funded by a grant from the Delaware Humanities Forum, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The panel will be moderated by Ralph Begleiter, University of Delaware’s Distinguished Journalist in Residence. Panelists include Littleton Mitchell, former head of the Delaware NAACP, Dr. James Newton, Professor of Black American Studies at the University of Delaware, Gilbert Sloan, board member of the ACLU-Delaware, and Nathan Barnett, former executive director of the Jewish Federation of Delaware.

“Marching Together: African-American and Jewish-American Relations in Civil Rights Era Delaware” will take place at Delaware Theatre Company, 200 Water Street in Wilmington. The event will follow the 2:00 p.m. matinee performance on Saturday, March 17, 2007, beginning at approximately 4:00 p.m. Admission to all Connections events are free. Connections: A Community Conversation is partially funded by a grant from the Delaware Humanities Forum, a state program of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
