Hedgerow Theatre Unveils Two New One-Acts By Award-Winning Playwright

For Immediate Release: February 9, 2007
Media Contact: Margie Royal, Hedgerow Theatre, 610.565.4211

Hedgerow Theatre is very pleased to be participating in The Theater Alliance of Greater Philadelphia’s current Philadelphia New Play Festival Feb. 8-18. Hedgerow Theater is offering a free playreading of two light-hearted new one acts, Annie Page and The Bewitching Hour, by Kathleen Clark, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18 at Hedgerow Theatre, 64 Rose Valley Road, Media.

Annie Page tells the story of two women waiting to audition for the same role. They find they not only have very different auditioning methods, but very different philosophies on life.

The Bewitching Hour takes place in Lillian Krum's apartment in New York City on New Year's Eve. Lillian's New Year's takes on new meaning when the irrepressible IrishShannon Darcy arrives at her door.

Kathleen Clark's play Southern Comforts was produced last fall at Primary Stages in New York City. Prior to its New York run, Southern Comforts was produced at the Coconut Grove Theatre with Dixie Carter and Hal Holbrook. Prior to that production, the play was featured in Hedgerow Theatre’s Horizon Reading Series. Ms. Clark's play, Soccer Moms, was produced at Fleetwood Stage and the Boarshead Theatre and is scheduled to be produced in New York City in the 2007-2008 season. The playwright has twice been selected to have her plays presented at the Eugene O'Neill Playwrights Conference.

The reading is free and open to the public. A talkback with the playwright and performers will follow the performance.

Hedgerow Theatre will also be presenting free Sunday night readings of new plays by John Wolfson (School For Martyrs on Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.); Zoran Kovcic (Gingerbread Mystery on March 4 at 7:30 p.m.) and Arabian Nights by Keon Mohajeri (March 11 at 7:30 p.m.).
