The Church, Congress ... and now the North Pole! Naughty Saint Nick Sex Scandal Revealed in BCKSEET Production's THE EIGHT

For Immediate Release: November 13, 2006
Media Contact: Greg DeCandia, BCKSEET Productions, 267.577.3007

Rumors are flying fast and furious around Santa's toyshop this holiday season when BCKSEET Productions brings Jeff Goode's anti-Christmas comedy, THE EIGHT: Reindeer Monologues to Philadelphia! An international media frenzy erupts when promiscuous Vixen brings scandalous allegations against the big man himself -- jolly ol' "Saint" Nick. Performances will be held December 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th and 16th at the Society Hill Playhouse's Red Room, located at 507 S. 8th Street. The performance starts at 7:30pm; seating is general. Tickets are $18 and include one drink. Doors open at 7:00 pm for Holiday Happy Hour featuring musical performances by G. Starr, Naeemah, Katie B., Jon Glaubitz Trio, and many more (an updated bill of performers will be available at http://www.bckseet.com). Tickets are available at the Society Hill Playhouse's box office or by calling 215-923-0210.

THE EIGHT, by Jeff Goode, is a series of monologues -- one from each of the eight reindeer as they give their perspectives on the wicked going-ons in the North Pole. The gang's all here -- mysteriously minus Rudolph: from no-nonsense, leader-of-the-pack Dasher (Chris L. Butterfield); flamboyant, disco-dancing Cupid (Dan Rich); Hollywood, the reindeer formerly known as Prancer (Bryan S. Clark); and Vixen (Nicole Venson) -- the center of this media storm, who's ready to put the whole thing behind her and fly to Florida. In the end, Christmas will never be the same!

The elite Eight is rounded off by Elyssa Phillips, as Blitzen; Oscar Dubon, as Comet; Kate Brennan, as Dancer; and Mark Cairns, as Donner.

BCKSEET is particularly excited for this special production as they gather their family home for the holidays -- with the cast and crew members either being a member of the BCKSEET company or having performed in a BCKSEET show before. Producing Artistic Director G. DeCandia, who will also be directing the piece, remarked on his excitement about THE EIGHT: "We were able to assemble an All-Star cast of some of our favorite actors that we have had the pleasure of working with in our two years in Philly. Not to mention it's a hilarious spoof on a classic red-nosed deer that is currently locked away in a padded stall."

THE EIGHT marks the eighth BCKSEET Production in Philadelphia's historic Society Hill Playhouse, the Executive Producer of the event.

Society Hill Playhouse, founded by Jay and Deen Kogan as part of the regional theatre movement in the United States, has remained in the forefront of the Philadelphia theatre scene for over forty-five years. Throughout its history, Society Hill Playhouse has presented the very best of contemporary theatre on both the original "Main Stage" and in the intimate "Red Room Cabaret Theatre."
