The Ritz Theatre Company Presents “Proof” For Immediate Release: April 1, 2006 The Ritz Theatre Company’s production of “Proof” by David Auburn runs April 27-May 27, 2006, at the historic Ritz Theatre, located at 915 White Horse Pike, Arts District, Haddon Township, NJ. Winner of both a 2001 Pulitzer and Tony Award, the characters in “Proof” are all pieces of the puzzle in the search for the truth behind a mysterious mathematical proof. “Proof” was made into a movie in 2005 starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins. David Auburns award winning play takes its name from a mathematical procedure. A famous mathematician passes away on the eve of his daughter Catherine’s 25th birthday. Catherine has spent years caring for her intelligent but unstable father. She must now deal with the arrival of her estranged sister Claire, who returns home to settle the family affairs. Hal, a suitor and former student of Catherine’s father arrives with hopes to find valuable work in the notebooks that her father left behind.What he discovers in an old notebook brings to light a buried family secret. Aaryn Kopp of Narberth, Pa. is the troubled Catherine. Chris Ward of Oaklyn is Hal Dobbs, the grad student with affections for Catherine. Steve Gleich of Wilmington, DE plays Robert, the mathematician suffering from dementia. Annina Jordan of Blue Bell, PA.plays Claire, the manipulative sister. The production is being directed by Esther Flaster of Medford. Costume design is by Trish Reichfeld of Voorhees. Set design by Bart Healy of Collingswood. Sound design by John Zettlemoyer of Audubon.
