Wesler Also Named to the Board For Immediate Release: January 24, 2006 David-Michael Kenney has been named Executive Director of Act II Playhouse, it was announced by Dr. Jay Rosan, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Kenney’s appointment is effective immediately. Mr. Kenney joined Act II Playhouse in 2005 as Production Manager, and with this new position assumes all operations responsibilities. “To help Act II Playhouse grow from being a Best Of Philly award winner, we have enhanced Mr. Kenney’s role so that he can help move us to the next level,” Dr. Rosan said. Stephen Blumenthal who continues as Producing Artistic Director is also extremely excited about this new development. In addition, Act II has announced that Kenneth A. Wesler, executive director of The Grand Opera House in Wilmington, DE, has been named to the Board of Directors and will assume the position of Treasurer. Mr. Wesler has served on several non-profit Boards, including The MBNA Excellence in Education grants committee, and as Treasurer for The Wilma Theater. Mr. Kenney’s career includes a long and impressive list of accomplishments and theatre credentials. He has worked on and off-Broadway as well as at a number of companies in the Delaware Valley, most notably the Philadelphia Theatre Company, the Wilmington Grand Opera House and the Sellersville Theatre. He is a native of Rosemont, PA and a graduate of Radnor High School and Temple University, where he earned a BA in 1980 from the school of communications and theatre. Mr. Kenney is very enthusiastic about the future of Act II and feels that there is an opportunity for tremendous growth so that Act II can further deliver on its mission of providing significant cultural opportunity for Ambler and its surrounding community. “I feel honored and fortunate in being asked to take on this task as this theater has grown from a concept 6 years ago to a vibrant suburban theater with close to 2000 subscribers and donors” said Mr. Kenney. He indeed has recently relocated to Ambler so that he can become part of the revival (which was started by Act II) of the town. Act II Playhouse is Montgomery County's premier professional theatre. It was incorporated as a non-profit theatre in August 1998, and opened in April 1999. The Playhouse is now in its seventh full five-play season, scheduled through June 2006. In addition to the theatrical productions, Act II has been actively involved in community programs, such as bringing theatrical experiences to area high school students and ongoing involvement in charitable causes.
