The Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival announces its 2006 Repertory Season with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), Much Ado About Nothing & The Tempest

For Immediate Release: September 20, 2005
Media Contact: Elizabeth Eckhardt, Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, 215.496.9722

The Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, under the artistic direction of Carmen Khan, is delighted to announce its 2006 season. This promises to be an exciting season for the Festival, featuring three productions running in repertory from March 9 through May 21.

The Festival launches this season with THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield. Returning this season, the terminally funny Brian McCann and John Zak present this zany introduction to all of Shakespeare's plays in two hours. This sidesplitting revival opens on March 9 and runs through May 8. Joining the repertory rotation will be William Shakespeare's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, running from March 24 through May 20. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING explores the perils of falling in love, and the perils of not falling in love. How will Beatrice and Benedick, two of Shakespeare's wittiest lovers, come together when they spend all of their energy claiming they will never marry? This season's final addition will be William Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST, running from April 14 through May 21. In THE TEMPEST, Prospero nears the end of his life having lost all, past hope, past despair. But with a bit of luck, a bit of magic and a great act of forgiveness, he redeems all and makes the world whole again.

Performance times for THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (ABRIDGED), MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and THE TEMPEST are: Wednesdays and Thursdays 10:30am & 7pm; Fridays and Saturdays 7pm; Sundays 2pm. All performances will be held in the intimate 120-seat Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival theatre at 2111 Sansom Street. Tickets are $25 for each performance with student, senior, and group discounts available.
