ESP begins 5th season with PATTY RED PANTS For Immediate Release: September 19, 2005 Theater Catalyst’s Eternal Spiral Project’s first play of the season, slated for October 26-November 26 is PATTY RED PANTS by Trista Baldwin. Patty Red Pants is an erotic and chilling retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood story following two girls throughout their sexual awakening and later, into their 30s, while they deal with the unsolved and vicious murder of their close friend Little Lisa Red Michelle. In an age of Natalee Holloway, Jon Benet Ramsey, and our own Latoyia Figueroa, this part true crime, part David Lynch, and part fairytale nightmare is sure to raise questions about how violence affects women everywhere. Trista Baldwin’s plays have been produced and developed in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Indiana, Portland, Seattle, Phoenix and Australia by groups such as The Guthrie, La Mama, New Georges, The Empty Space Theatre, Actors Theater of Phoenix, Circle X , Stark Raving Theater, Chicago Dramatists, Urban Stages and HB Playwrights’ Foundation. Her play Patty Red Pants was named Best Off-Off Broadway Play of 2003 by Show Business Weekly and was selected for the National New Play Network’s 2004 New Play Showcase. Other plays include Doe, Sand, Electropuss (2003 Drammy Award, 2002 AriZoni Award), Sex and Other Collisions and the campy cult hit Chicks With Dicks: Bad Girls On Bikes Doing Bad Things! Trista is the recipient of a 2004-2005 Jerome Fellowship at The Playwrights’ Center of Minneapolis. She is an affiliated artist of New Georges and a member of the HB Playwrights’ Workshop. Deborah Block returns to ESP after directing the Philadelphia premiere of Victoria Stewart's Live Girls and Scab by Sheila Callaghan. Block is a Barrymore nominated Director and the Program Director of The Philly Fringe and Live Arts Festival. This production of PATTY RED PANTS begins Theater Catalyst’s Eternal Spiral Project’s 5th season. Press related questions can be directed to Kirsten Quinn at 215-680-3876.
