Hedgerow Theatre presents Move Over Mrs. Markham, July 8-August 28, 2005 For Immediate Release: June 22, 2005 Audiences and Ray Cooney have been having a Laugh-Fest at Hedgerow Theater for the past four summers. This year, Hedgerow continues the tradition with the British playwright’s hit farce Move Over Mrs. Markham July 8-August 28. Performances are 8 p.m.Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m.Sunday. Penelope Reed directs the hilarity. The frantic fun begins when children’s book publisher Philip Markham and his wife, Joanna Markham, are each separately entreated to lend their apartment to their best friends, Linda and Henry, for an evening of intrigue without spouses. Unknown to all, the Markham’s interior designer and their au pair girl also have plans to try out the new bed while the Markhams are out for the evening. Written in 1969 by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, Move Over Mrs. Markham has garnered acclaim from the British press. "A riot. The laughter hit of the year.... I never stopped laughing." said The People. "The dialogue is risque and amusing.... Splendid.” exclaimed the London Sunday Express. “Loveable people and preposterous situations make Cooney accessible to so many. It’s a joy to see people leave the hectic of the day and lose their inhibitions through laughter. ” says Hedgerow Producing Artistic Director, Penelope Reed. Cast members include Donna Dougherty of Wilmington; Daniel Robaire of Philadelphia; Zoran Kovcic of Rose Valley; Bettylou Roselle of Wallingford; David Christoffersen of Lawrenceville, NJ; Hedgerow fellows Arrie Callahan, Newton Buchanon, Katie Chick and Susan Wefel.
