Media Theatre Announces 2005-06 Broadway Series For Immediate Release: May 14, 2005 The borough of Media will be alive with the sound of music once again from the fall of 2005 through the spring of 2006 as the Broadway musical series continues at The Media Theatre. Artistic Director Jesse Cline announced the Broadway Series titles for next season. “We have something for everyone,” he said. “We have two Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals, a dance revue, a fun musical for families, and one of Broadway's recent Tony winners for Best Musical. It's our most ambitious season, and promises to be one of our most popular.” Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats will prowl the Media Theatre stage September 28-October 23, 2005. Cline explained, “While the show is usually done in a certain style, the musical lends itself to interpretation. Our Cats will be a fresh take on the most popular musical of all time.” For the holidays, The Media Theatre will produce the first of three area professional premieres during its 2005-06 season. Seussical, the rollicking musical based on several Dr. Seuss tales, will delight audiences from November 22, 2005 through January 1, 2006. The Cat in the Hat narrates the musical, which includes appearances by Horton the Elephant, the Grinch, and all The Whos of Whoville. The second premiere, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love, plays January 25-February 12, 2006. Cline said, “This is a musical I have wanted to do since I saw it on Broadway. Media's own Ann Crumb was in the show at the time. It's a very romantic piece with some of Webber's finest music, including the song “Love Changes Everything.” Sigmund Romberg's 1924 operetta The Student Prince returns to the Media Theatre stage by popular demand March 8-April 2, 2006. The show epitomizes true romance with songs like “Deep In My Heart”, “Serenade”, and “Golden Days”. The 2005-06 Broadway Series season will close May 3-28 with the Tony Award winning musical Titanic. With a focus on the people who set sail on the ‘unsinkable' Titanic, a book by Peter Stone, and music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, this is a musical that touches upon the damaging results of high arrogance, the endless possibilities of technology, and hope for the future. Tickets are now available for all titles in the 2005-06 Broadway Series. Subscriptions purchased prior to June 30 are available at the current rate of $30 per show (adult rate).
