Tribe of Fools presents their newest play, FOOL, a grotesque physical comedy, at Christ Church, 20 N. American Street in Olde City, from May 11th-22nd. FOOL is an original adaptation of Isaac Bashevis Singer's Gimpel the Fool by the Tribe of Fools under the direction of ensemble member Andy Merkel.

Remember when you were a child and you believed in everything. What would happen to you if you were the only one who still believed? Set in the small Polish shtetl of Frampol, this tale of redemption follows Gimpel, a gullible baker, through a life of heckling, betrayal, and deception. What does Gimpel choose to do in the face of such adversity? He believes.

Based on the Nobel Prize winning short story by Isaac Bashevis Singer, Tribe of Fools' adaptation of Gimpel the Fool is performed in a highly physical and visually amazing form of musical grotesque clown. This show is recommended for ages 16 and up, no children please.

This production is the follow up to Tribe of Fools' Fringe Festival puppet tragedy hit Echo. FOOL is performed in Tribe of Fools' signature blend of Dell' Arte/Lecoq styles of Physical Theatre. FOOL features ensemble members Terry Brennan, Coby Fisher, Jeff Kitrosser, Toby Mulford, and Leah Walton, with the writing of Kate DeRosa and Liz Garrott, and lighting by Josh Schulman. Tribe of Fools is dedicated to helping those less fortunate. 10% of our box office and merchandise proceeds will be donated to the Fox Chase Cancer Center. A donation box is also provided for patrons' individual donations.
