Upper Darby Summer Stage, one of the nation’s most successful youth theater programs for 35 seasons seeks creative and flexible COSTUME DESIGNERS to join our 17 member costume staff to design and build one of our six children’s theater musicals. The designer is the primary seamstress for the costumes but has access to a professional stitcher and four college age interns as well as an extensive costume inventory. Desirable is an interest to teach motivated teens plus a degree or college coursework in costume design and construction. Four week commitment between June 21 through August 20. Non-union. A performance to raise awareness about the health dangers of a process called "fracking" used to drill for natural gas. Toxic chemicals leach into the water causing disease in wildlife, destroying the ecosystem, and contaminating our drinking water. Energy companies are currently leasing private land as well as public parkland to drill in Northeastern Pennsylvania, which will affect the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers, and ultimately Philadelphia. Public Eye is planning a performance and parade on May 15 at the Rotunda in W.Philly to educate people about fracking. We are seeking puppeteers, costume and set designers.
